Version 20.0 Release Notes – Puzzle Breakers

A huge Game Update 20.0 is now available, and here is what we have in store for everyone:

New game mode
New Hero upgrades: Mastery ranks and Relics
New event and two new Heroes with complex Special Skills
Adjustments to the clan mechanics

Read on to know all the details!

New and very powerful enemies are threatening the Kingdoms of Puzzle Breakers: Ancient Beasts. They are extremely dangerous and will challenge even the most cunning and battle-hardened rulers. The rewards for defeating these enemies are equally lucrative: priceless Relics that will help boost the power of your Hero team even further.

New game mode can be accessed by all players that have successfully completed level 170 of the Campaign mode.

To play a new game mode, use the corresponding Adventures menu.

There will be four different Ancient Beasts to challenge, each with its unique Special Skill. The higher the mission difficulty, the more powerful Special Skills become.

To challenge any enemy, players will need to use Ancient Beasts Energy. One unit of this energy is replenished every 24 hours.

Also, it will be possible to use Auto Battle Tickets to auto-complete previously successfully completed missions.

Let's introduce the Ancient Beasts you can face:


Death Warden	Deals damage to all Heroes At the start of a battle protects itself with shields As long as shields are active, the Boss is invulnerable to any damage One instance of a shield is removed for every positive effect applied on a Hero When shields are completely removed, the Boss loses its invulnerability
Mechanical Phoenix	Deals damage to all Heroes Applies an additional effect that prevents a couple of Heroes from gaining mana for several rounds Creates Magic Covers on the battlefield At the start of each round protects itself with shields As long as shields are active, the Boss is invulnerable to any damage One instance of a shield is removed after the Boss is attacked by Hero's Special Skill When shields are completely removed, the Boss loses its invulnerability and becomes stunned for several rounds
Forest Keeper	Attacks several times Only vulnerable to damage over time effects Incoming damage over time is reduced Summons minions on the battlefield If minions are already present, heals them instead of summoning new ones
Mad Inventor	Protected by Batteries As long as Batteries have mana, the Boss is invulnerable to any damage To destroy a Battery, Heroes with mana burning capabilities will be required Deals damage after Batteries are destroyed Decreases Heroes' attack and defense for several rounds Burns mana from several Heroes Summons Sticky Bombs on the battlefield Summons Prime Defenders on the battlefield Batteries are resummoned once in several rounds

NOTE! Players will have a limited number of rounds to defeat an Ancient Beast. Also, it won't be possible to purchase additional health points or extra rounds in case of a defeat.

Main rewards in the game mode are Relics. We will speak of them in great detail a bit later.

This update introduces new mastery upgrades that will be particularly beneficial for Heroes who have already reached their maximum power potential.

There are now five mastery ranks available, with each subsequent rank unlocking after fully upgrading the one before it.
Beginning with Rank II, the upgrade trees include special masteries that need Colored Fragments to unlock. These special masteries can lessen the impact of negative effects on your Heroes' attack and defense or the positive effects on enemy attack and defense.
Also, starting from Rank II a new Relic menu becomes available.

Relics can further empower the mastery skill trees:

Red Relics empower the attack tree
Blue Relics empower the defense tree
Green Relics empower the health tree
Purple Relics empower attack, defense and health trees simultaneously

At Ranks II, III, IV, and V, Relics of a minimum level are inserted automatically. Please note that the level of the Relic can be viewed at the bottom of its icon.

You can change the inserted Relic at any time, for example, to insert a more powerful one, but the currently inserted Relic will be destroyed!
After inserting 4 Relics of the maximum level for the current Rank, a very special Ancient Wisdom bonus will become available. Please note that the required maximum level can be viewed at the top of the icon.

NOTE! Due to significant changes in how masteries function, their bonuses will be temporarily disabled during tournaments. Once the masteries are properly adjusted, they will be re-enabled for tournament play.

Ancient Wisdom

Players can choose one of the five available Ancient Wisdom skills, each enhancing already equipped relics and providing additional bonuses.

The more maximum level Relics are inserted at every Rank, the more potent the bonuses provided by the Ancient Wisdom will be.

NOTE! Similar to Ancient Mastery, the Ancient Wisdom skill is the same across all Ranks. And like Ancient Mastery, the Ancient Wisdom skill can be changed.


Counterattack	Empowers all currently equipped Relics Hero deals counterattack damage to a random enemy after taking damage from several Special Skills
Vampirism	Empowers all currently equipped Relics If the Hero's Special Skill can deal damage, this damage will now include a vampirism effect
Magic Absorption	Empowers all currently equipped Relics The first few negative effects received in battle are immediately removed
Arcane Strike	Empowers all currently equipped Relics After using several Special Skills, a random enemy suffers pure damage and has all their positive effects removed
Vile Parasite	Empowers all currently equipped Relics After the Special Skill is used for the first time, the target receives an effect that consumes incoming healing

NOTE! The more ranks are fully upgraded, the stronger the effect of the selected Ancient Wisdom skill. If the rank is fully upgraded, you will see the green diamond on the rank icon.

Relic Upgrade

Relics are upgraded at the Relic Altar, accessible via the Ancient Beasts map.

To obtain a Relic of a higher star ranking, players will need either Gold or Power Stones along with three lower star ranking level Relics.

A new unique event is available — Dragon Warriors! Try out Fortune Cookies, hit the Gong and receive valuable prizes. And of course, don't miss out on an opportunity to recruit new mighty warriors — Thunder Monk and Jade Moon.

Event starts on February 10 and will last for 14 days.

A special Gong will appear in your Kingdom where you can access the event menu.

The event consists of two parts.

Part I

Complete quests to receive a special type of resource — Clay Flasks.

Clay Flasks will be required for a special mini-game, where players can try their luck and open Fortune Cookies.

Rumor has it that Fortune Cookies are a certain way for the most lucky and persistent rulers to get support from the legendary Thunder Monk.

His Special Skill, called Thunderfist, is equally effective during both attack and defense. The monk attacks three enemies, with each subsequent target receiving 50% less damage. All targeted enemies lose any applied positive effects, and their learned passive skills become blocked for 3 rounds! Moreover, there is a 15% chance that targeted enemies will become stunned for several rounds. Securing such a powerful warrior will surely boost the prowess of any Hero team.

You can also get the following unique equipment for Thunder Monk during the event:


The artifact — Mongkhon	Removes all negative effects from himself at the start of each round Special Skill ignores targets' defense Special Skill hits more enemies
The talisman — Storm Amulet	Increases a chance for the Special Skill to stun an enemy
Equipment	The damage reduction of each subsequent enemy targeted by the Special Skill is lowered

Part II

In the second part of the event you will be able to approach the Gong and use Damaru to obtain unique Heroes and valuable resources to use in the event shop.

With a bit of luck the Gong will help summon a unique Hero — Jade Moon.

Jade Moon is probably one of the wisest mages in the Kingdom of Tauveron. While using a Special Skill in the defending team, each of her attacks self-applies a stackable concentration effect that increases the normal attack damage by 25%. Also, there is a 50% chance that a normal attack will become an enhanced one and deal even more damage as well as burn mana from a random enemy. When the number of concentration effect stacks reaches a certain threshold, these stacks will be consumed to heal the Hero.

While using a Special Skill in the attacking team, Jade Moon strikes three enemies, with each subsequent target receiving 50% more damage. Also, all targeted enemies lose a portion of their mana.

You can also get the following unique equipment for Jade Moon during the event:


The artifact — Moon Whisper	In the defending team, certain normal attacks become enhanced ones, that deal more damage and burn mana from the random enemy In the defending team, an attack is performed every 2 rounds instead of 3 In the defending team, performs a normal attack every time an allied Hero uses their Special Skill
The talisman — Talisman of Concentration	In the defending team, increases the chances that a normal attack will become an enhanced one (deals more damage and burns mana from a random enemy)
Equipment	In the defending team, increases damage dealt by normal attacks

Do you still remember sweet, but deadly Cupid? This lovely Hero will get a unique talisman, artifact, and equipment as well!


The artifact — Venus Dagger	Increases damage dealt by a Special Skill for every allied Fire Hero Enemies targeted by a Special Skill receive Bonds of Friendship effect for several rounds When one enemy affected by the Bonds of Friendship takes damage, other enemies affected by the same bonds also receive a portion of that damage This effect cannot be removed Additionally, Bonds of Friendship decrease targeted enemies' defense
The talisman — Talisman of Temptation	There is a certain chance that a Special Skill will target an additional enemy Effects applied to main targets will be equally applied to the additional enemy
Equipment	Increases the amount of damage shared by enemies affected by the Bonds of Friendship

Clans are an integral part of the game and allow players from all over the world to combine their efforts and achieve the best possible results. However, we have noticed a certain tendency where some players were abusing a clan change function to obtain extra resources from the Giants' Chest. These actions have been causing negative consequences for the gameplay in general, therefore, certain adjustments have been made.

Now, if a player leaves or is kicked from a clan, they will be able to join a new clan (or send a request to join one) only after a 24-hour period.
